Bureau doubles its capacity with new ibml and Kodak Alaris scanning solutions
Document management specialists, Cleardata, the largest single-site user of scanners from Kodak Alaris in the UK, is the first company to install the ibml FUSiON intelligent, scalable document capture platform. This follows a series of firsts for the firm - Cleardata was the first company in the country to take delivery of the Kodak i5000 Series Scanners in 2012 and was also the first to order Kodak i5850S Scanners pre-launch four years later. This latest deal for the ibml FUSiON which also includes investment in additional Kodak i5850S production scanners, is the first stage in a two-year plan that will see the company invest a further £500,000 with Kodak Alaris, ibml’s lead distribution partner in the region.
The scanning bureau, which is one of the biggest in the country, has worked in partnership with Kodak Alaris for 14 years. "From day one we have continued to invest in high-volume capture solutions from Kodak Alaris to optimise our operations, boost our capability, improve productivity and offer higher value services," said Managing Director David Bryce. "In an increasingly competitive marketplace, we see our ongoing commitment to purchasing the very latest and best technology as a key differentiator for Cleardata."
Cleardata has continued its strong growth trajectory in both the public and private sectors; the company features on a number of frameworks including Crown Commercial Service (CCS) and NHS England’s Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) and this year in particular, has seen unprecedented demand for its digital mailroom services, driven by the UK-wide lockdown.
With plans to open up two new sites, Cleardata needed to further boost its production armoury to deliver additional capability and was looking to add to its production scanner fleet. After listening to the company’s plans and specific requirements, Kodak Alaris, invited them to try out the new ibml FUSiON document capture platform.
"We handle lots of different document types, on mixed media and with varying levels of quality. Kodak scanners have never let us down in terms of image quality, reliability and throughput, so we have never considered an alternative capture platform," Bryce explained. "Our view was that conveyor belt scanners were best suited to environments dealing with 'perfect' paper documents, but we agreed to have a look at the FUSiON document capture platform and we were not disappointed."
Cleardata visited the Kodak Alaris showroom and ran a number of test jobs through the ibml FUSiON scanner. "The technology is superb, we were extremely impressed both in terms of performance and the platform’s ability to handle many different document types. Of particular note is the ibml iQpro image processing technology which optimises image capture for better accuracy of data extraction from images," Bryce said. "We’ve worked with Kodak Alaris for a long time and have always been impressed not only with the high product quality but also with the excellent service we receive. The addition of the ibml device to our fleet of Kodak scanners, backed by expert repair and maintenance services from Kodak Alaris, will be a game-changer for the business. We’re really confident that this latest investment will help us take the business to the next level."
