When we first reviewed the Yooz cloud-based invoice processing solution six years ago, it had around 1000 customers, almost all in France, and was looking to build awareness further afield. Fast forward to 2021 and the product now has over 200,000 users in 30+ countries worldwide.

It is used by the likes of Deloitte, EY, PWC, KPMG and most of the major accountancy firms in the market. At the same time it has interfaces with pretty much every major accounting/finance and ERP system from Oracle and Microsoft to Sage and Quickbooks. The company works closely with partners to make sure connections to payment solutions or even HR/expenses systems are smooth and seamless.

While a cloud P2P approach has a particular and obvious appeal for SMBs, there is no doubt Yooz can be deployed by businesses of any size, capable as it is of processing anywhere from 100+ to hundreds of thousands of invoices per month. While most users will initially be attracted by its intuitive and straightforward invoice handling, the system is a true 'purchase to pay' offering that includes a slick and simple purchase requisition solution if required.

Most organisations will have seen an increase in electronically received invoices since Covid-19, and Yooz will comfortably process invoices in whatever format you might care to throw at it whether email, EDI, scans or from mobile devices.

The product's AI-based recognition technology means that there is no need for prior teaching or templates as in so many invoice automation tools, as the Yooz system will learn from each new invoice coming in where to find the key fields, and even match up with vendor databases and POs to do validation checking. The company's SmartSplit technology ensures that 100% of documents coming in to the system are separated correctly prior to processing. AI and RPA systems are used in the invoice process itself so that - Yooz claim - around 80% of invoices can be processed entirely automatically.

The whole interface is extremely well-designed to reflect the way that A/P staff manage their processes, with intuitive buttons and obvious workflows from input through checking, approval and payment (or return if necessary). A single click allows a user to, for instance, block an invoice, attach a file (a contract, for example), or add a comment for the Approver to see. The Search function is particularly impressive in its sophistication. Overall the users' Tasks page operates like a dashboard of all their current work and what needs attention, and makes it simple to see exactly where every invoice currently is in the system.

Yooz will export to over 250 finance systems, sending CSV or other data to a BACS file or ERP workflow as necessary. The monthly subscription covers all the costs for an unlimited number of users or managed companies. The cloud model means that users can access and work on their Accounts Payable workloads from any browser on any device.
